Symphony Youth Orchestra

The Williamsport Symphony Youth Orchestra (WSYO) and the Williamsport Symphony Junior Strings (WSJS) gave their annual joint concert February 28 to a large audience at the CAC, and a wonderful performance it was! Junior Strings conductor Matt Radspinner led twenty-nine young players in varied selections from five different periods and genres, and they rose to the challenge. Concertmaster Renee Long from Selinsgrove was featured soloist in the piece “Celtica.” The Junior strings just completed their fourth season with founding conductor Radspinner.
They were joined on stage by 52 members of the Youth Symphony for a joint performance. Quite a sight and sound! Then Dr. Williams Ciabattri closed the concert with five challenging pieces and many opportunities for whole sections and individual players to solo. Dr. Ciabattarii introduced students who graduate this year and spoke of the date for auditions to replace them in June. It was a joy to be in the audience tonight!
