“Once Upon an Orchestra”

“Once Upon an Orchestra” — In its second consecutive year, the Williamsport Symphony Orchestra (WSO) is thrilled to announce its continued partnership with the Hughesville Area Public Library (HAPL) for the organization’s annual outdoor concert in Hughesville. Set against the backdrop of the Lycoming County Fairgrounds in Hughesville, the event is scheduled on June 2nd, 2024, at 7:00 p.m., with activities commencing at 6:00 p.m. and the Fairgrounds opening at 5:30 p.m.
Titled “Once Upon an Orchestra,” the concert promises a meticulously curated selection of musical pieces performed by the Williamsport Symphony Orchestra, paying tribute to the rugged allure of the Wild West. Highlight compositions include Aaron Copland’s “From Rodeo: Saturday Night Waltz, Hoe-Down”; a soul-stirring rendition of “America the Beautiful” arranged by Alfred Reed; The Cowboy Overture by John Williams; and more.
Attendees can anticipate a dynamic fusion of classical and contemporary repertoire delivered by the exceptionally skilled musicians of the WSO.
The event is free and open to the public, making it a perfect activity for families. Children of all ages will be able to participate in many fun activities from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own picnic blankets or chairs to enjoy the beautiful evening while listening to music.
