TO BE ANNOUNCED ...

The mission of the newly created Williamsport Symphony Junior Strings, under the direction of Mr. Matthew Radspinner, is to offer an education in orchestral ensemble playing to young string players in the greater Williamsport area.
Qualifications - The orchestra is open to string students who may not be quite ready for the Williamsport Symphony Youth Orchestra. The target student is young high school, middle school, and advanced elementary school. Students should study privately or be involved in their school orchestra program.

Rehearsals - The WSJS will rehearse 5 times per school semester culminating in a performance.

Performance Level - The WSJS will play a variety of repertoire that is challenging enough that the group will have to practice, but also obtainable enough that ensemble techniques can be taught. The target repertoire is grade 3 and high grade 2 (Merle Isaac and Vernon Liedig arrangements for example).

Auditions - For the first year we are asking students to be admitted to the first rehearsal simply on a teacher recommendation. The recommendation form will be available on the Symphony’s website soon. This form should be completed and submitted prior to the first semester.
